So silent here in the forum

Hi,

I am started about 1 month ago to work regular on the Suntrip2018. Also I started here to exchange information. From my point of view there are a lot of issues which I need to know before the start.

But what I fell is that it is very silent here in the forum. There should be a lot information interchange so short before the start. Can you tell me the reason? I think there are some possible explainations: Every one is consider this Suntrip as a race and the others are competitors which should not get advantage informations? Less people then on the Suntrip side will attend? Now there are 34 listed if I count correct. I do not know. Can you tell me the reason?

I am not riding for winning this race as my personell goal. I like to arrive under 100 days. And I need a lot of information and help from you before the now very close start.

The lack of exchange here is a fact .The organisation keep trying to redirect all the questions received by mail here, but we slowly see from 2012 till now that the media "forum" is less and less used.
It 's a shame , as it has and will stay the best way to communicate in groups.

Let's guess the reasons:

first : the human nature . we start this forum because there wasn't any suntrip team, only a one man 's organisation. We could only count on each other.  Maybe people rely to much on the team to answer their questions or the ones of the others.  Forgetting that the team is nothing else that 8 passionate people with a life and not enough time.

second : Facebook
People are talking to eachother via Facebook, sharing their ideas and doubt, a lot.
We put a facebook group to gather people  at least, while a forum is still the fittiest tool

Third ! Timing (and human naure again )
You only start 1 month ago, (rhhooo late  : ) ) and I think everybody is starting to fell the same pressure now. For the bike to be ready, from their job's year that will have a 2 to 4 month hole, from the challenge of a life time . The rush is on , and almost everybody is on a super focus mode right now. (or panic mode   )  

As for imagining everybody hiding information from each other, that's rubbish.
Every edition is the same : 4 to 5 wants to have fun racing , 15 wants to have fun playing games (blog, videos , etc)   15 wants to have fun taking their time .

The week end of March will create bonds , and from then I m sure answers and friendship will come stronger and stronger.

I think Cedric gave you some good explanations there.
I don't think it's that people don't want to share but it takes quite a bit of time to go and write and follow the forum. We have busy lives... especially as CEdric said since we will need to take some time off in the summer...
There is also the language barrier: a number of people have said here they can't do English or they can't do French...

Well, I made the same constat some month ago.
With some trippers we have opened a WhatsApp group to exchange in more intimate. Like you we have fear to post idiots questions and want more exchanges. We exchange more simply with WhatsApp, like photos.
Now with the new Facebook group, it's a new opportunity to exchange but somebody are not on Facebook.
For this forum, I'm going here rarely.

Franchement les gars, on est à la cool. Il n'y a vraiment aucune question idiote...
Autre remarque: Pour le Sun Trip il est indispensable que pour la communication officiel, que chacun est un compte ou une page Facebook.
Cette aventure ne fonctionne essentiellement qu'avec Internet. Et Facebook est un outil presque obligatoire.

Pour la préparation d'un projet comme le SunTrip, je préfère de loin ce forum sur lequel j'ai déjà pas mal posté. Il permet d'envoyer un message que tous (enfin, ceux qui se sont inscrits) peuvent voir immédiatement. Ou parcourir un mois plus tard on cherchant une solution à un problème donné. Le gros avantage, c'est la facilité avec laquelle on retrouve un échange après plusieurs semaines. Pour les questions idiotes, on peut les poser en swahili ou en gallois, comme ça on peut rejeter la faute sur la traduction en ligne si c'est vraiment con comme question.

Mon gros soucis avec FB est que pas mal d'échanges ne me sont pas proposés par leurs algorithmes un peu fadas. C'est comme ça que je n'ai pas vu certaines publications alors que pendant 15 jours, je recevais à tout moment une notification comme quoi Claude avait mal au dos et abandonnait son trike.

Whatsapp ça fonctionne bien... mais en chine ce sera foutu. Ce serait bien que tous se créent un compte Wechat et qu'on ait l'occasion de se mettre en groupe et tester au w-e de mars.

oui wechat sera la solution de communication durant le suntrip en chine , vous pouvez deja l'installer et attendre le WE commun ou angelique nous fera une belle presentation ..

T'inquiètes pas j'enlève juste le haut une roue , je continue sur un vélo droit et j'espère être au départ en 2019 et 2020

Perso pas simple d'avoir des choses à échanger pour l'instant, je pense qu'après vous avoir rencontrer début Mars j'aurais d'avantage à dire... en attendant je regarde ce qui se dit sur FB ou ici

Pourtant, c'est sur Facebook que se passe la grande majorité des échanges, on y voit les avancements de chacun, leur préparation. On y partage beaucoup de photos et vidéos et un échange beaucoup plus souple que sur un forum se met en place.
Je te conseil de t'y inscrire au moins pour le Sun Trip sans rien partager d'autre sur ta vie privée. Car on ne s'inscrit pas au Sun Trip pour rester discret. C'est un événement médiatique qui se partage beaucoup via Internet et les réseaux sociaux. Chacun des participants est mis en avant pour la promotion des valeurs que le Sun Trip véhicule.
